Real™ Blackjack with James Rules & Strategy

Real™ Blackjack with James operates as a standard 21 blackjack game. There are four different payouts on this game:

  1. A blackjack hand pays 3:2 when your first two cards total a 21.
  2. A standard win where you have a hand of 21 or less and your total is higher than the dealer’s or the dealer busts results in a 1:1 payout. Blackjack ace rules apply, as a 21 that involves more than two cards isn’t a blackjack.
  3. A 2:1 payout is good for insurance wagers. You can add an insurance bet if the dealer’s first card is an ace.
  4. The 6 Card Charlie rule applies here and also has a 1:1 payout. You will automatically win if your hand has six cards, and you don’t go over.

All bets are returned in cases where there’s a push.

Blackjack Guide

  • Basic Variations: All cards are reshuffled between rounds. The dealer also stands on all 17s.
  • Number of Decks: This game has six standard decks.
  • When to Hit or Stand: It’s best to hit when the dealer’s card is a 7 or higher but be sure to stand if you have a hand of 12 or greater and the dealer’s card is a 2 to 6.
  • When to Double: Doubling down helps when you have a soft total or a 9, 10, or 11 and the dealer’s card is a 6 or less.
  • Hard Totals: Whether you should hit or stand depends on the dealer’s first card. You can hit when the dealer’s card is a 7 or higher and stand in other situations.
  • Soft Totals: It’s best to hit on a soft total if the dealer’s card is high in value. You can also double down if you have an ace and a 2 to 7, but that is best if the dealer’s card is low.
  • When to Surrender: Surrendering is best when you have a hand of 15 or 16 and the dealer’s card is an 8 or higher.

Betting Expert Techniques

  • You can use a blackjack basic strategy guide to help you see when you should double down on a hand. Doubling down is appealing for many hands, plus you can double down after splitting a hand. This point is valid for traditional blackjack card rules which is what this game provides.
  • Splitting is a good option for cases where you’ve got two of the same card. But splitting works best when you have a pair of 9s or higher. You can also split aces, but you cannot take a hit on either resulting hand.
  • The 6 Card Charlie strategy is appealing if you have a small total at the start. You can keep going for a six-card hand if you keep getting small-value cards. But you should abandon this strategy if you get a 12 or higher even if you have five cards in your hand, as the risk of busting will exist at this point.
